Refunds & Returns

Althemax is a multi-seller marketplace. Each product is sold by an independent merchant who sets their own returns policy. This page describes the minimum protections that apply to every order placed through Althemax checkout — your merchant's published policy may grant additional rights, but it cannot override these.

Always read the seller's returns policy on the product page or seller profile before you buy — that is the binding policy for your specific order.

1. Right to cancel (UK / EU consumers)

Where the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (UK) or the EU Consumer Rights Directive apply, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the day you (or someone you nominate) receives the goods. You can cancel for any reason and return the item for a full refund.

2. Faulty, damaged, or not-as-described items

If an item arrives faulty, damaged, or materially different from the listing, you are entitled to a refund, replacement, or repair regardless of any seller-specific returns window. Contact the seller within 30 days of delivery; we'll step in if needed.

3. How to start a return

  1. Open the order from your account orders page.
  2. Choose Request return and pick a reason.
  3. The seller has 3 business days to respond with a return address and a returns label (where one is offered). For sellers without marketplace checkout, contact details are listed on the seller's profile.
  4. Send the item back in its original condition within the window the seller specifies (no shorter than the minimums on this page).

For change-of-mind returns, the buyer covers return shipping unless the seller's policy says otherwise. For faulty / not-as-described items, the seller covers it.

6. Items must be returned in saleable condition

Unless the item is faulty, the seller can reduce your refund to reflect any reduction in the item's value caused by handling beyond what was needed to check it (e.g. heavy use, missing tags, damaged packaging).

7. Items bought via external channels

Some products on Althemax link out to a connected seller's eBay, Shopify, Etsy, TikTok Shop, or Amazon storefront for checkout. In those cases the buying contract is between you and that storefront, and the platform's policy applies (e.g. eBay Money Back Guarantee, Amazon A-to-z Guarantee). The minimums above still apply when you check out on Althemax directly.

8. Marketplace mediation

If the seller doesn't respond, refuses a return that should be allowed, or the dispute can't be resolved between you, raise it with us within 60 days of the order date by emailing enquiry@althemax.com. We'll review the seller's policy, the listing, and the conversation and decide on a fair outcome.
